William Marrion Branham was a Christian minister whose healing ministry skyrocketed him from a rural pastor to an international evangelist. His controversial teachings caused division in churches, particularly in the latter stages of his ministry, and opinions of his legacy are divided into three main categories: 1) Some believe him to be a major prophet of God. There are two main groups of followers, although both believe his teachings to be inspired by God and consider him to be Elijah the Prophet in fulfillment of Malachi 4:5. The first group views him as an infallible prophet who never made a mistake. The second group accepts that he made mistakes, but holds that his "Thus Saith The Lord" teachings are infallible. 2) Many in the Pentecostal and charismatic movements see him as one of the leaders of the healing revival during the 1940's and 1950's, but also view him as a man whose ministry left Christian orthodoxy in its latter stages. 3) Others view him as a charlatan who deceived people, holding himself forth as a something that he was not. People in this group often deny that he had a true gift of healing. The purpose of BelieveTheSign is to provide balanced, unbiased information on the ministry of William Branham. We are attempting to provide an objective examination of his claims, the beliefs of his followers, and the criticisms of his detractors. If you see anything on this website that you believe to be inaccurate or misleading, please let us know. We pray that the contents of this website would speak to your soul, and lead you closer to Jesus Christ.
